The Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WMDH) family extends its sympathies to the
family of Dr. Duane Justus. Dr. Justus passed away on February 23rd, 2019.
“Dr. Justus - along with his father Dr. Howard Justus - was a giant in the history of our hospital. He will long be remembered,” notes Cholly Boland, CEO. “It is an understatement to say that WDMH would not be what it is today without the contributions of both of these leaders.”
Staff and physicians have spent time remembering and honouring Dr. Justus over the past
several days. Long-time colleague Dr. Suru Chande remembered how Dr. Justus used to help organize get-togethers with fellow physicians. He would make the reservation under
‘Winchester Hospital Doctors’. “The maître d’ almost always greeted him as Dr. Winchester,”
remembers Dr. Chande. “How appropriate, looking back!”
Both Dr. Howard Justus and Dr. Duane Justus are memorialized in the Justus Wing on the
second floor of the hospital.
