Crews are currently on scene of a water main break on Lions Road in Morrisburg.

South Dundas says residents in the area may experience water disruption while repairs are completed. The Municipality would also like to thank the public for their patience.

Lions Road is located in the east end of Morrisburg. The road runs north and south, connecting Broder Crescent to Kyle Drive.

Water main breaks are not uncommon. On Wednesday, a water main break on Bay Street in Iroquois caused a disruption to residents in that area.

Water mains are the underground water pipes carrying water from the water treatment plan to the pumping stations and water storage tanks. At times water mains can leak or break.

When a water main leaks or breaks, water can escape. The constant pressure in the water main causes the escaping water to flow to the surface until the break is found and that section of pipe is closed and then repaired.

A Wednesday evening break in Mississauga sent a geyser of water 60-feet into the air.

A downtown water main break in Vancouver flooded parts of the downtown area and began pouring into Vancouver Harbour on Wednesday.

Around 2 a.m. on Thursday, a water main break flooded the basement of an Etobicoke highrise. When emergency crews arrived, they found about three feet of water in the lower level of the building.
