Two 22-year-old males from Akwesasne flee OPP traffic stop on highway 401


On Tuesday, November 6th, 2018 at approximately 3:49 a.m., an SD&G OPP officer attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on Highway 401 in South Dundas Township. The vehicle failed to comply with the request and continued on. The driver eventually left the roadway with his vehicle and entered a field.


Both the driver and the passenger then fled the area.


SD&G OPP were able to locate the driver a short distance away.


The adult male driver, 22-year-old Trent Benedict-Oakes from Akwesasne, Ontario was arrested and charged with:

  • Flight while pursued by peace officers

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle

  • Fail to comply with conditions of an undertaking

  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling (Cannabis Act)

  • Possession of property obtained by crime

He was held in custody (bail) and is scheduled to appear in Cornwall Court.


Later that same day, November 6th, SD&G OPP located the passenger in South Grenville, Ontario.


22-year old Kahiio Cree was arrested and is charged with:

  • Resist peace officer

  • Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling (Cannabis Act)

  • Possession of property obtained by crime

He was released and is scheduled to appear in court at the Brockville Court of Justice on November 30th, 2018.
