Special Weather Statement in effect for Morrisburg and area
Snow and bitterly cold temperatures expected this weekend.
Eastern Ontario will be on the northern fringe of a major winter storm that will track south of the Great Lakes this weekend.
Periods of snow associated with this weather system will begin Saturday morning or afternoon and taper off Sunday morning. The latest analysis continues to suggest that total snowfall amounts near 10 cm are possible over the area. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.
In addition, northeast winds gusting to 50 km/h are expected Saturday evening. These winds will occasionally generate blowing snow and wind chill values in the minus 25 to minus 35 range that will continue into Monday morning.
