Should cannabis stores be allowed to open in Morrisburg?

Recreational cannabis was legalized by the Canadian government on October 17th, 2018.

Ontario Cannabis Store, Ontario's only legal retailer of recreational cannabis, operates a website at www.ocs.ca, and is the sole legal retailer of recreational cannabis in the province of Ontario. Under its establishing act, the Ontario Cannabis Store is a subsidiary of the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO), the provincial liquor store monopoly.

You can order legal weed from the Ontario Cannabis Store for as little as $7.50 per gram, which is a competitive price against the average $10 per gram offered by local black market dealers.

During his recent campaign, South Dundas Mayor-elect Steven Byvelds said South Dundas should be open to the retail sale of cannabis "in the right place, at the right time".

In a September, 2018 interview with Nation Valley news, Byvelds said he would be in favour of South Dundas supporting a pot store.
