The team at Shoppers Drug Mart in Embrun knows how to plan. They have just presented a cheque for $3,437 to the Winchester District Memorial Hospital (WDMH) Foundation – and they are already planning for another fundraising event next year.
It’s all part of the "Shoppers Love. You." campaign which supports local women’s health charities. This year, the Embrun team raised money by selling used books, popping balloons for extra PC optimum points after a purchase, and asking for donations at the cash. There was a thermometer in the lunch room to show staff their progress throughout the campaign.
“This is an incredible team,” notes Cindy Peters, the Foundation’s Manager of Direct Mail and Events. “We are so grateful to owner, Ches Woolfrey, who has just retired and to new owner, Samy Gobran, who plans to continue fundraising for Winchester District Memorial Hospital. Thank you to the staff and to the customers who supported this campaign.”
The donation will be directed to the Foundation’s Digital Mammography Fund. Since 2001, the Shoppers Drug Mart in Embrun has given $31,699 to support patient care close to home.
