Royal West Academy Honour Band performs on Sir James Morris drive during Santa Claus Parade

The Royal West Academy Honour Band from Montreal West, Quebec performed for The Morrisburg News on Sir James Morris Drive, during the 25th Annual Morrisburg Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, December 1st, 2018.

On November 20th, the award of "Best Visiting Band" was given to the honour band for their performance during the Cornwall Santa Claus Parade.

The band represents Royal West Academy in music competitions and festivals, and performs live for special occasions such as Memorial Day and graduation ceremonies. Its members wear specially made coats with pins representing the number of years they have been in the band.

The Honour Band is also the only high school marching band in the city of Montreal, and participates annually in numerous parades throughout Ontario and the Montreal region, including the Montreal St. Patrick's Day Parade and of course, the 25th Annual Morrisburg Santa Claus Parade—organized by George Davies.

An Honour Band performance trip is planned each year and most recently, the band visited Cuba on a cultural exchange.
