Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is part of a large, international joint investigation underway into importation of illegal drugs.
Beginning in December 2018, members of the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) have been acting upon information received through its partner agencies including Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) involving the importation of methamphetamines in vehicles shipped trans-continentally to Canada by rail cars. Drugs have since been recovered by police from auto dealerships across Ontario. Similar seizures have been made by law enforcement authorities in the United States.
As this is an ongoing investigation, when more information is available or when criminal charges are laid, the public will be notified via media release.
