Chelsea VanMoorsel started working at Dundas Manor right after she finished her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at St. Lawrence College. Seven years later, she has a new role as RN, Resident and Family Care Coordinator. The new leadership position supports residents, families and staff members.
“I’m starting from scratch and it’s really exciting,” says Chelsea. “I love working here and everyone is so supportive. I am very fortunate to have been given this opportunity. It expands my scope of practice and I can help support the home.”
As RN, Resident and Family Care Coordinator, Chelsea will be the first point of contact for new residents during the admission process and serve as an ongoing resource. She will mentor and plan orientation and education programs for fellow Registered Nurses, Registered Practical Nurses and Personal Support Workers. And she will work with the leadership team to plan quality initiatives.
“This is my second home and family,” sums up Chelsea. “I like the history and the personal connections. Every resident has a unique story and it’s important to provide the best care for each of them.”
“We want to continually focus on quality improvement and hands-on support for residents, families and staff,” adds Administrator Susan Poirier. “We are really pleased to have this new position at Dundas Manor and Chelsea is an exceptional nurse to do this unique job.”
