Municipality of South Dundas seeking Committee Members

The Municipality of South Dundas is seeking applications for committee members for appointments to various boards for this term of Council. Currently, individuals are being sought for the following committees and boards.

SD&G Accessibility Committee

The Accessibility Committee is an advisory body that works with County staff to develop and review policies to ensure that the services provided by SD&G are accessible and in compliance with applicable legislation/regulation.

Iroquois Waterfront Committee

The Iroquois Waterfront Committee was established by the South Dundas Council in June 2011 to investigate and determine a plan to conserve, protect and enhance the Iroquois Waterfront.

Fence Viewers

Fence viewers settle disputes where a property owner desires a new fence on the boundary line or when a property owner wishes to repair an existing fence. Fence viewers examine the premises and hear evidence, under oath if required. Decisions are then made as to the style, location and cost sharing between the neighbours.

Livestock Valuators

The Ontario Wildlife Damage Compensation Program was launched in July 2011, replacing a program that had not been changed in over 30 years. Through this program, compensation may be paid to owners for the cost of livestock killed or injured by coyotes and other approved predators.

Court of Revision

The Court of Revision is an appeal body established under the Drainage Act. The act sets out a democratic process for constructing new drains or improving existing drains. The basic premise is that property owners who benefit from a new or improved drain should pay their share towards the cost of construction. Members of the Court of Revision may hear appears in cases where lands or roads have been assessed incorrectly. Members conduct themselves fairly and without bias.

Committee of Adjustment

The Committee of Adjustment is an approval body that adjudicates matters related to minor variances to Zoning by-laws and consents to severances of land.
