Plans are underway for the fast approaching 2019 Matilda Winter Carnival.

The 2019 Matilda Winter Carnival Committee is scheduled to run February 1st to February 3rd, 2019 and the committee is actively seeking donations which can either by door prizes or monetary donations.

The winter carnival features a talent show, car/rally/dinner/dance, pancake breakfast, Family Fun Day and ecumenical service.

All winter carnival events will be held at Matilda Hall in Dixon's Corners and at the Matilda Memorial Park in Brinston.

The committee is looking for eager volunteers who would be willing to give up some of their free time during carnival weekend to help out.

If you would like to donate some of your free time or make a monetary donation, please e-mail matildarecreation@gmail.com.

Without volunteers, the winter carnival would not be possible.

The Matilda Memorial Recreation Committee (MMRC) is a group of community-minded folks who have been working to revive recreation opportunities to local residents at low or no-cost.

Matilda Memorial Recreation has upgraded the Matilda Memorial Park in Brinston with funding from EDP Renewables, the family of the late Frank Ault and many other generous community members and businesses.

In order to hold free events such as the Easter Egg Hunt, Family Day Fun, weekly summer playgroup and the tree lighting ceremony, MMRC holds a few fundraising events each year, including Matilda Winter Carnival and Fall Pig Roast.

Matilda Park includes a lot of great playground equipment, a huge rink in the winter, pickleball courts, sand volleyball court, swings, basketball nets and more. Matilda Recreation has a small sports equipment lending section with skates, balls and more. Equipment and nets for pickleball are available as well.

For more information or if you are interested in volunteering, joining the committee or donating to an event, please visit MatildaRecreation.ca.
