Government of Canada testing Emergency Alert System nationwide this Wednesday, November 28th

A test of the Alert Ready system will be conducted on Wednesday, November 28th, 2018 at 1:55 p.m. (2:55 p.m. local time in Quebec). The test will be distributed on TV, radio and compatible wireless devices nationwide.

Please note, not all mobile devices will receive the test message. For general device compatibility, you can refer to the Alert Ready website. Alert Ready recommends that you contact your wireless service provider with specific inquiries regarding public alerting services and device compatibility. Your wireless provider will be best able to answer specific questions about device compatibility with Alert Ready.

What types of alerts are broadcast?

Only authorized government agencies can issue alerts. Together, government officials developed a specific list of the types of alerts that are considered a threat to life. These types of alerts should be broadcast immediately on television, radio and wireless devices. For a complete list and description of alerts, visit the Alert Ready website.
