Meet Carol Fowler. Carol and her husband Daryl own and operate the coolest little convenience store in Brinston that you've probably never heard of—Brinston General Store.

Carol and Daryl purchased Brinston General Store from Cindy and Kelly Peters in July of 1999. In an interview with The Morrisburg News, Cindy said she and her husband Kelly were happy to sell the store to Carol and Daryl. "They continue to provide a wonderful atmosphere for customers, plus they expanded the kitchen greatly to serve amazing food! They have worked hard to keep a quality business in Brinston."

Carol is also an excellent cook and Brinston General Store serves breakfast, pizza, subs and burgers. Hamburger meat is locally sourced from Williamsburg Meat Market, formerly Whitteker, in Williamsburg. All food is homemade and meticulously served. Breakfast is served daily until 11:00 a.m.

The kitchen closes about 1 hour before store closing. For takeout, call 613-652-2482.

The pump prices are set when the fuel shipments arrive and remains the same until the tank is re-filled, usually on Fridays or Mondays.

Brinston General Store is a lot more than just another convenience store. It's a community hub for the small village of Brinston. Ads for other local businesses are proudly displayed and Carol is frequently overheard recommending other Brinston businesses to customers as they come and go from her store.

According to Carol, South Dundas Mayor Evonne Delegarde often stops at the store on her way to and from community events. "She's a great supporter," said Carol. "We see her in here often."

When asked about the customer service she receives on her visits Brinston General Store, Evonne said, "Carol is a very nice lady. The Brinston area is lucky to have the business there, and it shows because the local residents support them very much."

Not only can customers buy gasoline, lottery tickets, pizza, fries, burgers, snacks and newspapers—they also frequent for the type of free news, weather, sports and opinion that can only be found in the "Bullshit Corner". It even has it's own sign.

"A customer brought that in for the morning coffee boys," said Carol, explaining the sign. "You should hear some of the debates that go on in here in the morning."

You can meet the morning coffee guys in the "bullshit corner" around 7 a.m. any weekday.
