In an announcement earlier this October, which was printed in The Morrisburg Leader, owners Hanna and Carl announced they would be closing their business at 29 Main Street in Morrisburg, due to health reasons.
"Thank you for your support in the last 11 years," they wrote in the announcement. "We want to thank you for your patronage and we will miss all of you a lot."
Sandra Sinnett, who has been a waitress at Basketcase since almost its beginnings, says she is going to miss all of the cafe's wonderful customers—that they were like family.
Sandra and her late-husband Ralph were one of Hanna and Carl's first customers. "We became friends from the beginning," she said in an interview with The Morrisburg News.
"They were there for both of us when Ralph was so sick," she expressed with gratitude for Hanna and Carl. After her husbands death, Sandra became a volunteer at the cafe. "It gave me a reason to get up in the morning," she explained.
When asked what she was going to do with her spare time now, she replied "rest a bit."
You can find Sandra at the Hawaiian Fantasy Tea and Bazaar at Lakeshore Drive United Church in Morrisburg next Saturday, October 27th, 2018.
Sandra, Hanna and Carl will also be at the Fall & Winter Tradeshow with soups and sandwiches from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, November 4th, 2018.
The store and gallery area of Basketcase will remain open until October 29th, 2018, with fantastic deals on antiques and collectibles. Don't miss this chance to say goodbye to Hanna, Carl and Sandra.
Basketcase is located at 29 Main Street in the Morrisburg Plaza.
