It is said that the stork delivers babies, but for Brittany and Ryan Tinkess, it was the Easter Bunny! Their first son Evan was born on Easter Sunday (April 21st) at Winchester District Memorial Hospital.
“It was great to deliver the first Easter baby,” notes Brittany. “To be honest, I never considered having our baby anywhere else. I knew that even if my doctor couldn’t get there, we would be in good hands. And we were.”
Every day, staff, physicians and volunteers at WDMH work hard to make each patient and family experience the best it can be. Recent satisfaction surveys show we are on the right track. WDMH is a ‘high performer’ in four key patient areas – according to the results of a provincial report on patient satisfaction. The report is based on patient surveys from April to December 2018. The survey asked patients about their overall care and if they would recommend the hospital to their family and friends.
For WDMH’s maternity program, 100% of the respondents said they would recommend this service to family. That is higher than the provincial average of 94%. Likewise, 100% of Day Surgery patients would recommend WDMH’s service, where the provincial average was 99%. In Emergency, 91% of patients would recommend it, above the provincial average of 87%. And on the Medical/Surgical Unit, it’s 98%, above the provincial average of 94%. The data is collected by National Research Corporation Canada (NRCC), an independent research institute.
“It’s a team effort and we should be very proud,” sums up Cholly Boland, CEO. “Patient satisfaction is a result of the patient’s entire experience and involves every person the patient had contact with - from our volunteers at the front door to support staff that work behind the scenes.”
Best of luck to Brittany, Ryan and Evan!
