SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic situation in South Dundas at approximately 6:18 PM on Wednesday, May 15th, 2019.
The police investigation revealed that an adult male had assaulted his girlfriend with a weapon, and threatened her on multiple occasions. He's also alleged to have assaulted her on several other occasions in recent months. The same male was also in contravention of conditions from a previous release.
The female victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The male, a 25-year-old from Prescott, was arrested and is charged with:
Assault (7 counts)
Assault with a weapon (4 counts)
Uttering threats
Overcome resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate and strangle another person (2 counts)
Assault cause bodily harm (2 counts)
Forcible confinement (2 counts)
Fail to comply with conditions of a probation order (9 counts)
He was held in custody (bail) and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cornwall.
