1st South Dundas Sparks, Brownies & Girl Guides collecting items for Birthday Box donations

Updated: Feb 21, 2019

As part of their 2019 Service Project, the 1st South Dundas Sparks, Brownies & Girl Guides are collecting items for Birthday Box donations to South Dundas Community Food Share.

A Birthday Box is a self-contained package with everything needed to have a Happy Birthday party.

Every person needs some recognition on their birthday. However, certain circumstances can occur that might make that impossible.

If you can imagine struggling to afford groceries and not having extra money to celebrate the birthday of a family member, then you can appreciate the importance of a Birthday Box project as a way to provide material items and a special caring thought to help facilitate a Happy Birthday party.

Each Birthday Box will be delivered to the South Dundas Community Food Share for distribution to families in need.

Birthday Boxes have been extremely well received by the team with a lot of positive feedback from families.

Please ask your family, friends and neighbours to support the 1st South Dundas Sparks, Brownies and Girl Guides 2019 service project.

Items needed are candles, balloons, foil cake pan, cake decorations, birthday banner, birthday cards, wrapping paper and ribbon, crepe paper. Additional items that can be included are: party hats, noise makers, small goodie bag items, table cloth, or a small unisex toy or present unwrapped.

The unit will be providing a foil pan, cake mix and frosting for each Birthday Box.

Cash donations are also welcome. Donations raised will be used to purchase items needed for Birthday Boxes.

Please bring items and cash donations for the Monday, March 4th, 2019 meeting.

1st South Dundas Sparks, Brownies and Girl Guides meet on Mondays (September-June) from 6:30 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. at South Dundas Lutheran Community Church, 12367 County Rd 18 in Williamsburg.

Girl Guides provides a safe environment that invites girls and young women to challenge themselves, find their voice, meet new friends, have fun and make a difference in the world.
