The Morrisburg & District Lions Club and Pet Valu Morrisburg are partnering to host a Dog Walk in Morrisburg on Sunday, May 26th, 2019, to raise funds for the raising, training and placing of Dog Guides to support the 1 in 5 Canadians who live with a medical or physical disability.
Registration for the walk is at 9:30AM at Pet Valu Morrisburg: participants leave the store at 10:00AM for a 3km walk towards the River, through town with a stop at the Docksyde for a free ice-cream cone before winding back at Pet Valu where all proceeds from a BBQ will also go to Dog Guides.
100% of the funds raised by those who walk and / or donate online will go directly towards one of the seven Dog Guide programs:
Canine Vision Dog Guides, for those who are blind or visually impaired;
Hearing Dog Guides, for those who are deaf or hard of hearing;
Service Dog Guides, for those with a physical disability;
Seizure Response Dog Guides, for those who have epilepsy;
Autism Assistance Dog Guides, for children on the autism spectrum;
Diabetic Alert Dog Guides, for those who have diabetes with hypoglycemic unawareness; and,
Support Dog Guides, for professional agencies with individuals in traumatic situations.
Although each and every Dog Guide cost an average of $25,000 to raise and train, these life
changing dogs are provided free of charge to qualifying Canadians. In this effort, Lions
Foundation of Canada Dog Guides receives no government funding and relies solely on
donations from individuals, corporations and fundraising activities. To date 3,000 Dog Guides
have been placed with individuals across Canada.

The Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides is a national fundraising walk held in approximately 300 communities across Canada. It raises funds to help train Dog Guides for Canadians with disabilities. Each Walk is organized by local volunteers with support from Lions Foundation of Canada. To date, the Walk has raised more than $17 million!
