This letter, addressed to parents/guardians of North Dundas District High School students and signed by Principal Angela Grandy, explains that at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Monday, December 10th, 2018, NDDHS and the TR Leger site located at NDDHS were placed in a Hold and Secure mode, allowing paramedics to attend to a medical emergency outside of the school.

It's believed that a vehicle struck a student pedestrian at or near the school. The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Several TR Leger students who were outside of the school witnessed the event as it occurred.

A source close to the incident says that teachers who responded to the scene are struggling emotionally and that bystanders are pretty shaken up.

A support team has been sent to the school to help with any student or staff members who may experience difficulty as a result of the unfortunate incident.

The Hold and Secure was lifted at approximately 10:15 a.m.

County Road 43 was re-opened to traffic by 11:30 a.m.
