Driver receives minor injuries after leaving Prescott area RIDE program

Grenville County OPP is currently at the scene of a motor vehicle collision in the eastbound lanes on Highway 401, just east of Johnstown.

Shortly after 12:00 AM on June 19th, 2019, OPP officers were conducting a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program in the Prescott area when a vehicle left the scene. Shortly thereafter, the same vehicle was observed on Highway 401 west of Prescott. The vehicle left the roadway a short time later.

The adult driver (lone occupant) of the vehicle received minor injuries and was transported to hospital.

The Ontario Provincial Police has notified the Special Investigation's Unit (SIU), which has invoked its mandate. As a result, the OPP will not be able to provide any further information about this incident.

As the investigation continues, detours are temporarily in place at King Street and Edward Street in Prescott.
